Rare Tiwi Ceremonial DANCE Club, Tiwi Group, Melville and Bathurst Islands, Northern Territory. Carved and engraved hardwood with natural earth pigment. Of bi-convex section and elongated triangular profile, solid cut handle, decorated with panels of incised cross-hatching motifs, old dark shiny patina. Approx L81 x 10cm. PROVENANCE Ex collection Lutheran Mission Museum, Finke River, Northern Territory, given to a teacher in the 1970’s to use as teaching aids. PROVENANCE John Magers Collection, Sydney.
